Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Seeks Record-Breaking Extension Deal

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is close to agreeing on a contract extension that will set a new record for average annual value of a manager. The two-time World Series-winning manager has been in talks with the organization since spring training, and it’s expected he’ll finalize a deal before the team departs for its season opener in Tokyo.

Roberts’ current three-year deal is coming to an end, but his new contract will likely top the $8 million per year agreed by Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell. The extension comes after Counsell signed a record-breaking $40 million guarantee over five years.

As one of the winningest managers in baseball history, Roberts boasts a .627 winning percentage and has won multiple World Series titles. He’s among an elite group of active managers with postseason wins and is on track for a Hall of Fame-worthy legacy.
