Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman missed Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves due to an injury sustained while slipping in the shower at home. The 2024 World Series MVP suffered a minor setback after initially recovering from a surgically repaired right ankle, which he sprained in late September.
Freeman had been feeling good about his condition and was looking forward to playing on Monday. However, manager Dave Roberts decided to sit him out for the day, citing that Freeman’s ankle “wasn’t 100%.” In his absence, Enrique Hernandez started at first base and hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Despite the setback, Freeman is still hitting .299 with a high OPS in 20 games against the Braves. He had previously recovered from an ankle injury during the World Series, where he homered in four of the five games played. The Dodgers are now 6-0 on the season and will reassess Freeman’s condition for Tuesday’s game.
