Dog Dies After Receiving Librela Injection, Owner Calls for Greater Transparency

A dog owner in Bedford County, Virginia, is speaking out after her beloved English bulldog died just days after receiving an FDA-approved pain medication for osteoarthritis. The dog, Berkley, was administered the Librela injection after his vet noticed early signs of arthritis, but within 20 days, he had developed severe kidney and liver failure.

According to Joanna Freeman, who is still grieving the loss of her pet, the dog’s condition rapidly declined after receiving the injection. She reported that her dog became lethargic, unmotivated, and experienced difficulty breathing.

The FDA recently issued a warning to veterinarians about the potential for adverse side effects associated with Librela. Freeman is now calling on the drug company to be more transparent about the medication’s risks, so other pet owners can make informed decisions about their pets’ health.
