A group behind the recent DOGE Big Balls ransomware attack has updated its note, incorporating Elon Musk references and demanding a staggering one trillion dollars from victims. The attackers, who use a variant of FOG malware, have been spotted trolling Musk and DOGE.
The ransomware threat is considered serious despite the attackers’ attempts at humor. The note demands that victims provide five bullet points on their work accomplishments from last week, or face the consequences. The attackers claim to have encrypted victim data and copied it to their internal resources, emphasizing the need for prompt contact to resolve the issue.
The DOGE references are not limited to a demand, but also include a “Don’t snitch now” warning, likely targeting ransomware informer platforms. The attackers claim to possess victims’ exact coordinates, using location data to prove they have been lying. Authorities advise reporting any such attacks to the FBI.
