Country music legend Dolly Parton has responded to an outpouring of support for her late husband Carl Thomas Dean after his passing. Carl, who was 82, died earlier this week.
The couple met in a Nashville laundromat in 1964 when Dolly was 18 and Carl was 21. They married two years later, with Carl keeping a low public profile by owning an asphalt-paving business.
In a recent statement, Dolly shared that her husband had passed away saying “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.”
A follow-up post on social media allowed Dolly to express gratitude to fans, friends, and family who have sent messages of condolence. “This is a love note to family, friends, and fans,” she wrote. “Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers that you’ve sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl.”
