Dolphins Lineman Terron Armstead Announces Retirement After 12-Year Career

Dolphins offensive lineman Terron Armstead has announced his retirement from the NFL after a decorated 12-year career. The five-time Pro Bowl standout, 33, made the announcement at a party in Miami to celebrate his next chapter.

Armstead signed a five-year, $75 million contract with the Dolphins in 2022 and spent three seasons as the team’s starting left tackle. He was also a key figure in developing younger players such as Austin Jackson and Patrick Paul.

The loss of Armstead will leave the Dolphins without a starting left tackle, although rookie Paul is expected to fill the vacancy. The team will also be without two respected voices in their locker room, after Calais Campbell signed with the Arizona Cardinals earlier this week.

Coach Mike McDaniel acknowledged the need for a stronger culture of accountability moving forward. Armstead’s retirement marks nearly three decades’ worth of NFL experience lost from the Dolphins’ roster.
