Domino’s Pizza has finally joined the ranks of its competitors, including Pizza Hut and Papa John’s, with a new stuffed crust option on its menu. Thirty years after Pizza Hut introduced the item, Domino’s is now offering its own version, called the Parmesan Stuffed Crust.
The move comes after customers have been asking when Domino’s would introduce its own stuffed crust, with 73% of surveyed customers believing the company already offered this option. However, Domino’s needed time to prove the value of a stuffed crust, as it was concerned about the extra time and cost involved in creating the base.
According to Kate Trumbull, Domino’s chief marketing officer, the company is excited to announce its new stuffed crust, which will be included in its $9.99 carryout deal. The item has been in development since 2022, as the company struggled to retain demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Domino’s shares have gained 22% in the past six months, with analysts predicting a positive impact on sales from the addition of stuffed crust pizzas. Despite weak fiscal fourth-quarter sales, analysts remain broadly positive about the stock, with a Moderate Buy consensus rating based on 15 Buys, nine Holds, and one Sell assigned in the last three months.
