Donald Trump’s First 10 Days: Key Actions and Initiatives

Donald Trump has launched a series of significant actions since his Jan. 20 return to the White House, addressing a range of national priorities and policies. His first 10 days have been marked by bold moves in immigration, workforce reduction, gender equality, energy initiatives, climate commitments, and more.

Trump has strengthened U.S. security by suspending TikTok’s global operations and forming an advisory group aimed at streamlining government processes. He has also revoked pardons for approximately 1,500 individuals involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, many of whom were charged with crimes related to the attack.

In immigration, Trump has declared a national emergency due to border security concerns, suspended refugee admissions, and revoked the “Remain in Mexico” policy. He has also expanded enforcement authority under federal immigration laws and signed an executive order capitalizing on TikTok’s declining global presence.

Workforce reduction remains a central focus, with Trump reducing non-essential federal jobs by 20% within six months of his Jan. 20 return. The former president has also been actively addressing gender equality issues in the workplace, particularly targeting male executives for potential pay disparities.

Energy and climate initiatives have been prioritized under Trump’s administration, with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions despite withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. The U.S. has also pulled out of global health organizations like the World Health Organization amid accusations of mishandling the COVID-19 pandemic.

In January 2017, Trump pardoned more than 1,500 individuals linked to the Jan. 6 attack, including leaders of far-right groups like Oath Keepers and Proud Boys. The Jan. 6 pardons were largely for those convicted of crimes related to the riot but not directly tied to violence.

The former president has also been pushing TikTok’s suspension by 75 days ahead of its scheduled shutdown last year, with the app now running under a new name in some markets. Additionally, Trump has established an advisory group called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at drastically reducing federal operations and attracting immediate legal challenges.

The Jan. 6 pardons included leaders who were convicted for attacking police officers during the riot but not those involved in actual violence. Trump’s administration has been characterized by a mix of continuity and significant change, with many of his actions aligning with previous administrations while others represent bold new directions.
