Donatella Versace Steps Down as Creative Director, Replaced by Dario Vitale

Donatella Versace is stepping down as creative director of Versace, a role she has held since 1997. The Italian designer will be replaced by former Miu Miu design director Dario Vitale, who was recently appointed to lead the brand.

Versace announced her departure at the A/W 2025 runway show in Milan, where there were whispers that it might be her last appearance. In a statement, Versace expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to carry on her brother Gianni’s legacy and praised his genius. She will remain present as chief brand ambassador, overseeing red-carpet appearances and philanthropic efforts.

Vitale, who has worked under Miuccia Prada at Miu Miu since 2010, is widely regarded as a talented designer. He expressed his honor in joining Versace’s creative team and thanked Donatella for her trust and dedication to the brand.
