Donatos Expands to Texas with New Frisco Location

Donato’s, a well-known pizza chain in the Midwest, has opened its first location in Texas, marking the brand’s entry into the Lone Star State. The Ohio-based company, founded by Jim Grote in 1963, is known for its edge-to-edge pizzas, where every bite includes a topping.

Three natives of Ohio now living in North Texas – Rico Singleton, Casey Dennis, and Cameron Hopkins – are behind Donato’s expansion into the region. They saw an opportunity to bring the concept to the area, which lacks a distinct pizza identity. The trio chose Frisco as the location for their first Texas store, citing its growth potential and community appeal.

Since opening earlier this month, Donato’s has received positive feedback from customers. The restaurant offers a wide range of menu items, including subs, salads, wings, appetizers, stuffed calzone-like calzatos, desserts, and beverages.

Singleton recommends trying the “Founder’s Favorite” pizza, topped with pepperoni and sausage, while Dennis suggests the Very Vegy pizza on cauliflower crust. Donato’s is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday through Saturday at its location in Frisco (8990 Coit Road).
