Dr. Casey Means’ Senate Hearing Postponed Due to Pregnancy

Dr. Casey Means’ confirmation hearing as President Trump’s surgeon general nominee has been postponed due to her pregnancy. The hearing, originally scheduled for October 30 at 11 a.m., was canceled after Dr. Means went into labor.

The Department of Health and Human Services declined to comment on the new hearing date but stated that everyone is happy for Dr. Means and her family. The decision was seen as an unusual break in the process, with Senator’s likely having tough questions about her qualifications and potential conflicts of interest.

Means, 38 years old, is a graduate of Stanford Medical School and has experience in functional medicine. However, she never completed her residency training or became board certified, which raises concerns among medical experts. Despite this, Trump administration officials, including Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have expressed confidence that Means will be confirmed.

The confirmation hearing delay comes after significant opposition to Means’ nomination from medical and public health experts, who question her lack of leadership experience and some of her views on healthcare issues such as vaccines and birth control.
