UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis has mocked his welterweight counterpart Belal Muhammad over his comments about challenging him to a title fight. In response to Muhammad’s suggestion of moving up to middleweight, du Plessis joked that he would easily defeat the 170-pound fighter.
Belal Muhammad recently floated the idea of switching weight classes to take advantage of double-champ status with light heavyweight champion Islam Makhachev. However, du Plessis laughed off the notion, saying that it wouldn’t be fair to challenge him at middleweight.
“I step on his head and it’s over — that’s how that fight goes,” du Plessis said in a recent interview. The middleweight champion also poked fun at Muhammad’s “Remember the Name” nickname, questioning whether he has ever finished an opponent.
Belal Muhammad fired back at du Plessis on social media, calling him out for his clumsiness and suggesting that he would easily defeat him. The two fighters engaged in a heated exchange, with neither willing to back down from their trash talk.
