A drone strike on a hospital in el-Fasher, Sudan’s last functioning healthcare facility in Darfur, claimed 67 lives and injured dozens. The attack occurred as RSF fighters were pushed back by army-aligned militias, who also control key oil refineries near Khartoum. el-Fasher, home to North Darfur’s state capital, has been under siege since May, while hospitals across the country face closure due to the war. With up to 80% of healthcare facilities out of service and tens of thousands displaced, the region faces severe humanitarian crisis. Famine has already begun in three displacement camps, with five more areas expected to be affected by May. The Sudanese army claims to have broken a long-standing siege on Khartoum’s oil refinery but rejects claims of victory over RSF fighters. The conflict, rooted in disputes over integration, has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced millions, leaving half the population in hunger.
