Drones Hit Russia’s Largest Oil Refinery in Tatarstan Attack

A drone strike has hit one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, the Taneko refinery in Tatarstan. The attack occurred on a facility that processes over 16 million tonnes of oil per year and is crucial for providing fuel to Russian military forces.

The refinery, located over 1,000 km from the war zone, was previously targeted by drones in April 2024, which caused minor damage but no disruption to operations. However, recent drone attacks suggest a coordinated effort by Ukrainian intelligence agencies.

Ukrainian officials have denied using foreign-made weapons in these strikes, while Russian authorities claim that workers are being evacuated due to the threat of further drone attacks. The refinery’s importance lies in its role in fueling Russia’s military efforts, making any disruption significant for the country’s war strategy.

The attack on Taneko oil refinery is the latest incident in a series of targeted strikes against Russian facilities by Ukrainian forces, highlighting the escalating tensions between the two nations.
