Phil Robertson, a main cast member of the popular reality TV series Duck Dynasty, has passed away at the age of 79. His family shared the news through social media posts on Sunday, May 25.
Robertson was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in December, but his health declined rapidly since then. His son Jase and granddaughter Sadie Robertson Huff paid tribute to him on social media, expressing their gratitude for the love and prayers received from fans.
Phil Robertson founded Duck Commander, a hunting company that he sold in 2012, and starred alongside his family members on the show. The series ended after 11 seasons but was revived as Duck Dynasty: The Revival, set to premiere on A&E this summer.
Robertson was a Louisiana native who married Kay at age 17 and became a successful entrepreneur before appearing on the reality TV show that made him famous. He leaves behind his family, including sons Jase and Willie, and granddaughter Sadie Robertson Huff.
