The Duffer Brothers, creators of hit Netflix series “Stranger Things,” have signed an exclusive four-year agreement with Paramount Pictures, which has merged with Skydance. The deal covers feature films, television, and streaming projects. Financial terms were not disclosed.
As their contract with Netflix ends in April 2026, the brothers will develop new projects under Upside Down Pictures, a production company they lead with Hilary Leavitt. In a joint statement, Matt and Ross Duffer expressed excitement to join the Paramount family, citing their goal of bringing “bold, original films” to the big screen.
The Duffer Brothers are known for their work on “Stranger Things,” as well as the 2015 film “Hidden” and the TV series “Wayward Pines.” They have two projects in development for Netflix, including “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” and “The Boroughs,” which they plan to continue working on despite the new deal. The partnership with Paramount comes as the company invests in high-quality storytelling and cutting-edge technology under Chairman and CEO David Ellison’s leadership.
