Duke Dominates North Carolina in Thrilling 87-70 Victory

Duke left no doubt in its dominant 87-70 victory over North Carolina in Cameron Indoor Stadium, showcasing the team’s balanced scoring effort and stifling defense. Three Blue Devils, Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, and Tyrese Proctor, scored more than 15 points each, with Flagg taking advantage of his height advantage against freshman phenom Seth Trimble.

Flagg scored or assisted on each of Duke’s first 18 points, including a 3-point make off an offensive rebound. The Blue Devils’ offense looked balanced, with multiple players finding open shots and Flagg sinking two triples. North Carolina’s guards, who stood at 6-foot-4 or shorter, struggled to keep up.

The height disparity between the teams played a significant role in Duke’s success, with Khaman Maluach recording four offensive boards and Knueppel scoring 11 points in just four minutes of action. The Blue Devils’ defense continued to stifle opponents, forcing turnovers and making it difficult for North Carolina to score.

Despite a late surge from the Tar Heels, Duke held on for the win, taking a 20-point cushion into the final minutes. The victory marked Duke’s 15th straight win and sets up a matchup against Syracuse next Wednesday.
