Duke’s Cooper Flagg Returns from Injury with Impressive 22-Minute Performance

Duke men’s basketball star Cooper Flagg returned to action after an ankle injury last week, playing 22 minutes in their first-round NCAA tournament game against Mount St. Mary’s. The number one seeded Blue Devils cruised past the 16th seed 93-49.

Flagg, who rolled his left ankle eight days ago, didn’t show any signs of discomfort during the game. He scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while also providing four assists and two blocks. Duke coach Jon Scheyer was pleased with Flagg’s performance, saying it was a good sign for his return to full fitness.

“We were ready for him to play more, but I think the way it worked out was really good,” Scheyer said. “He showed off his mobility on a fast break and that’s a good sign for us moving forward.”

Flagg downplayed any concerns over his ankle, saying he had been 100% comfortable since returning from injury. He also credited the pool treadmill for helping him stay in shape during his recovery.

The win marks Duke’s return to form after missing Flagg and other key players due to injury. With a tough matchup against No. 9 seed Baylor on Sunday, Flagg’s return will be crucial in leading the Blue Devils to their next victory.
