Duke’s Tyrese Proctor Expected to Return from Knee Injury

Duke coach Jon Scheyer has confirmed that guard Tyrese Proctor is expected to return for the remainder of the season despite suffering a left knee injury during Tuesday night’s game against Miami. Imaging tests revealed a bone bruise but no structural damage, and Scheyer emphasized that caution will be taken with Proctor’s recovery.

Proctor hobbled off the court after appearing to buckle his left leg while defending a fast break, finishing the first half with seven points in 14 minutes. Isaiah Evans took over for him in the second half. The injury marked the Blue Devils’ sixth loss of the season.

Scheyer praised Proctor as a key player who has overcome numerous ups and downs throughout his career. He’s averaging 11.8 points per game this season, leading the team with 64 three-pointers. With Proctor expected to return, Duke is bolstered ahead of its upcoming games against Florida State, Wake Forest, and potential NCAA tournament play.

The Blue Devils are currently first in the ACC standings with a 25-3 record and will face off against North Carolina on March 8 before opening ACC tournament play on March 13. Their path to the national title remains strong as they gear up for their quarterfinal game against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
