Durant Stands by Phoenix, Not Draymond, as Reason for Rejecting Warriors Trade

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant revealed the reason behind his decision to reject a trade deal with the Golden State Warriors at the NBA deadline. In an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Durant stated that he didn’t want to get traded midway through the season and wanted to see it through with his team in Phoenix.

Durant dismissed criticisms he faced during his three seasons with the Warriors from 2016 to 2019, saying “People talk crazy about me all the time. That’s not the reason why I didn’t want to come back.” He acknowledged that he is expected to be a candidate for a trade this summer but deflected questions on the matter, leaving it up to the Suns organization.

The Suns have underperformed this season, ranking 11th in the Western Conference with a 26-28 record. Durant’s decision not to get traded may indicate that he is committed to helping the team finish the season strong. Despite the criticism during his time with the Warriors, Durant remains loyal to his current team and appears determined to make it work.
