EA Cancels Titanfall Franchise, Lays Off Over 300 Employees

Electronic Arts has canceled its upcoming “Titanfall” franchise video game and laid off more than 300 employees. The company stated that it made the decision as part of its focus on long-term strategic priorities to align teams and allocate resources effectively.

The layoffs primarily affect Respawn, an EA-owned developer working on “Apex Legends” and “Star Wars Jedi”. Approximately one-third of the cuts were made at Respawn, with two early-stage incubation projects also being canceled.

EA is committed to player-first experiences and innovation, with plans to evolve live experiences for “Apex Legends” and create new worlds and stories. The company will continue to refine gameplay while exploring bold experiences that push competitive play boundaries.

The decision comes after Bloomberg reported the layoffs and game cancellation, citing EA’s scrapping of the “Titanfall” franchise.
