EA Cuts 200 Employees, Cancels Disney-Marvel ‘Black Panther’ Game

Electronic Arts (EA) has laid off around 200 employees across its mobile and central teams as part of a studio closure and downsizing efforts. The move comes after the company canceled its next “Titanfall” game last month.

The cuts follow EA’s shift in focus towards its biggest franchises, including EA Sports, “The Sims,” “Battlefield,” and “Apex Legends.” According to EA Entertainment president Laura Miele, these decisions were made to “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities.”

Miele stated that while layoffs are difficult, EA is working to support affected employees by finding new job opportunities within the company. This marks the third round of layoffs EA has made this year.

The cancellation of a Disney-Marvel game, including one based on “Black Panther,” was part of the studio closure and downsizing efforts. Representatives for EA declined to comment further on the matter.
