EA Launches Battlefield Labs Community Testing Program

Electronic Arts (EA) has introduced “Battlefield Labs,” a new community testing program to give players a chance to test the next installment in the popular Battlefield franchise. The program aims to involve the gaming community in shaping the game’s development.

To participate, players can sign up for the program now, with the first phase set to launch in the coming weeks for invited players in Europe and North America. A queue has already formed for registration, but EA assures that an individual’s position in the queue does not impact their chances of being selected.

Battlefield Labs follows EA’s previous early testing initiatives, such as those conducted for Skate and The Sims franchise’s Project Rene. However, this program is likely a response to the less-than-stellar launch of Battlefield 2042, which received mixed reviews from critics and players alike.

The development of the next Battlefield game involves multiple studios, including Dice (the original creators), Criterion (known for racing games), Motive (known for Dead Space), Ripple Effect (responsible for Portal mode in 2042), and Respawn Entertainment under the guidance of Vince Zampella. The upcoming game will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes.
