EA has confirmed that the next Battlefield game will feature a modern setting, marking a departure from its World War I-focused approach in recent years. Vince Zampella, who oversees the series, has announced plans for a community testing program to gather feedback on the game’s multiplayer aspects.
The new game is expected to return to 64-player maps, a shift from the 128-player battles of Battlefield 2042, which received criticism for its overwhelming scale. The Specialist system, which was introduced in 2042 but met with negative reception, will not be returning.
EA has scheduled a social media announcement for February 3 at 5pm CET, where fans can expect further details on the community testing program and possibly some glimpses into the game’s single-player experience. This follows a similar approach taken by Skate, another upcoming PC game that has had an ongoing community testing phase since June 2022.
While exact dates are not yet clear, EA is expected to begin public playtests soon. Stay tuned for updates on this highly anticipated game and its evolving multiplayer landscape.
