Eagles’ Barkley Continues to Impress in Scrimmage-Like Practice

The Philadelphia Eagles held a 1-hour and 56-minute practice on Friday, marking their second full-pad session of training camp. The team was able to enjoy a rare break from the extreme heat that has plagued them in recent days, with temperatures reaching into the high 60s.

Saquon Barkley put on a show during the practice, showcasing his skills as a runner and receiver. Despite being without DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown for parts of the session, Barkley still managed to accumulate a ton of touches and make several big plays. He caught a pass in the middle of the field and was tackled by Jihaad Campbell, but quickly got up and ran it in for a touchdown. Barkley also talked trash with teammates before and after scoring, showing his competitive spirit.

Barkley’s performance was highlighted by several notable moments, including when rookie Smael Mondon Jr. made an impressive interception on the All-Pro running back. The play came down to Mondon Jr. staying with Barkley on a wheel route and knocking the ball away from him.

Other standout players included Moro Ojomo, who made a big strip-sack on Jalen Hurts, and Azeez Ojulari, who had a sack in first-team reps. Rookie Elijah Cooks continued his strong push for the roster, catching a touchdown pass on an in-breaking route.

The Eagles will have an off day on Saturday before returning to practice on Sunday morning with just under a week left until their first preseason game.
