Eagles Lose Star Defender Nakobe Dean to Injury

The Philadelphia Eagles’ first home wildcard win since 2006 was overshadowed by the injury of key linebacker Nakobe Dean. The team’s top-ranked defense lost a crucial piece with Dean, who was seen on crutches and wearing a large brace on his left leg after the game.

Nakobe Dean’s teammate and roommate at the University of Georgia, Nolan Smith, expressed his concern for the player’s well-being. “It hurt my heart,” Smith said. “He works so hard and has determination that I just feel like I can lean on him.”

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts praised the brotherhood among players from the same collegiate team. “I think that’s had a great influence on our defense, with confidence, intensity, and swagger,” he said.

The loss of Dean is significant, as he was second on the team in tackles this season. His teammate, Lane Johnson, described him as a key leader who will be deeply missed. “He became a key leader of the defense… As a teammate, he’s one of the best teammates we have.”

Eagles linebacker Oren Burks will likely fill in for Dean in the playoffs. “We talked about it,” said Burks. “I’m definitely praying for him out there. He’s been our leader for the whole year, commanding accountability from top down.”
