Eagles OC Kellen Moore Named Saints’ New Head Coach

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has become the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints. The team announced the move on Tuesday, two days after the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

Team owner Gayle Benson said that Moore was found to be the right fit for the organization, who will help re-establish a winning program and culture that fans have come to expect. Benson also thanked Darren Rizzi, who served as interim coach this past season.

The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in the Super Bowl, with quarterback Jalen Hurts being named MVP. Coach Nick Sirianni joked about Moore returning to the team for another season after their win.

Moore, 36, has decided to pursue a head coaching career after one season in Philadelphia. The Eagles averaged 27.2 points per game in the regular season and 36.3 points in the postseason.

Former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley is expected to join Moore as defensive coordinator. The Saints’ defense allowed 379.9 yards per game last season, a major priority for Moore.

Moore will be one of the youngest head coaches in the league, coming from an offensive background similar to Sean Payton when he was hired in 2006.
