Easter has been celebrated by Christians around the globe, with diverse traditions and festivities. This year, all Christian denominations, from Orthodox to Western churches, observed the holiday on the same day due to their shared calendar.
In various countries, unique ways of commemorating Jesus’ resurrection were showcased. In Greece, fireworks lit up the sky, while in Jerusalem, worshippers lit candles at the church where Jesus was said to have been crucified and buried. Palestinians also participated in the Holy Fire ceremony at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
In Eastern Europe, Easter festivities continued with traditional activities such as Easter cake blessings, parades, and bonnet parades. In Ukraine’s Lviv, people waited for their baskets to be blessed outside a church, while in Syria, children marched in a parade amidst security measures.
Meanwhile, Christian communities in Turkey, Romania, Germany, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Russia, Iraq, France, Spain, Pakistan, Greece, and Egypt came together to celebrate Easter. These diverse celebrations highlighted the significance of this holiday in different cultures and traditions.
