Eating Right in Midlife May Boost Health Span

A new study published in JAMA Network Open suggests that women who eat high-quality, minimally processed carbohydrates are more likely to age in good health. Over 47,000 women took part in the decade-long study, which found that those who consumed mostly unprocessed carbs like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes were 30% less likely to decline physically and mentally as they aged. High-quality carbs, defined as nutrient-dense foods low in added sugars, are associated with better health outcomes and may play a key role in preventing chronic diseases.
