US Education Secretary Linda McMahon referred to artificial intelligence as “A1” during a panel discussion on education, instead of the more commonly used term “AI”. The remark was made at a summit hosted by Silicon Valley investors in California.
McMahon’s use of the term sparked confusion among her fellow panelists and raised questions about her experience in education. Despite this, she acknowledged the potential benefits of AI in education, stating that it could be helpful for students starting from pre-K levels.
The Education Department did not comment on McMahon’s apparent mistake. The remark comes as part of President Trump’s efforts to dismantle the Department of Education, with the executive order signed last month calling for the agency’s destruction.
McMahon, a Trump loyalist and former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, was chosen for her role despite lacking experience in education.
