Egg Shortage Hits US Grocery Stores Due to Avian Flu

A nationwide egg shortage caused by the avian flu has led grocery stores like Trader Joe’s and Kroger to limit egg purchases. The limits, ranging from one dozen to three packages per customer, are in response to a 14% price increase in just two months. This rise is projected to continue this year, with prices potentially doubling due to the shortage of over 40 million birds last year. As a result, some stores, including Waffle House, have added surcharges for egg sales, with prices reaching as high as $10 per carton in some states.
