Egypt announced Sunday it will host an emergency Arab summit on February 27 to address “new and dangerous developments” related to US President Donald Trump’s plan to resettle Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The move comes after Trump proposed the idea in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week, sparking outrage among Arab countries including Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Despite their initial disapproval, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Jordanian King Abdullah II have agreed to participate in the summit. The emergency meeting aims to discuss the implications of Trump’s plan on the Palestinian cause.
