Egypt Unveils $53 Billion Plan to Rebuild Gaza Strip Without Removing Palestinians

Egypt has presented a $53 billion plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip by 2030, aiming to create green housing, renovate agricultural lands, and open new ports without removing the Palestinian population. The plan counters former US President Donald Trump’s proposal to depopulate Gaza to make it a tourist destination.

The first phase of the Egyptian plan involves clearing over 50 million tons of rubble left by conflicts in recent years. It also includes building mobile homes for Palestinians living in “safe areas” within Gaza, allowing cities to be rebuilt.

Meanwhile, Israel has accused Hamas of using humanitarian aid as its main source of income, threatening to cut off aid deliveries to the territory. The Israeli government claims that this aid is being used by Hamas to fund terrorist activities and reorganize its forces.

The plan was endorsed by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi during a summit in Cairo attended by regional leaders, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The event aims to call for a “permanent and just solution” for the Palestinian cause.

Critics of the Israeli government’s actions say that cutting aid to Gaza is threatening civilians’ lives, who are still recovering from 16 months of conflict. International agencies, including the UN, have expressed concern over Israel’s decision to halt aid deliveries.
