Tech billionaire Elon Musk has finally admitted to using account boosting, a practice known as cheating in most games, to compete in Diablo IV and Path of Exile 2’s endgame. The revelation comes after being called out by YouTubers, including Zach “Asmongold” Hoyt, who shared screenshots of DMs exchanged with Musk.
Musk admitted to using account boosting in his conversations with NikoWrex, a YouTuber who published the videos on YouTube. He claimed that everyone is doing it and defended his actions, saying he was not transparent about his methods because he never played the games live online.
The practice of account boosting involves paying someone else to play your character for you, often to gain an advantage in online multiplayer games. Both Diablo IV and Path of Exile 2 have strict terms of service that ban such activities, but Musk’s admission comes as a surprise given his reputation as a hardcore gamer.
Musk’s gaming persona has been called into question after his streaming performance earlier this month, where he was criticized for being fake by YouTubers and other gamers. His ex, musician Grimes, came to his defense over the weekend, but it appears that Musk’s ability to silence his critics has had little success so far.
