Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have apparently buried the hatchet after a brief period of tension between the two billionaires. The world’s wealthiest man took to social media to congratulate Bezos on Blue Origin’s successful launch, which sent Bezos’ New Glenn rocket into orbit. In response, Bezos wished Musk luck for his SpaceX Starship rocket launch.
The pair shared a lighthearted and humorous exchange, with Musk posting clips from the 2008 comedy film “Step Brothers” that poked fun at their rivalry. The memes highlighted the unlikely friendship between Musk and Bezos, which has been years in the making.
As of March, Forbes estimates that Musk’s net worth stands at $426 billion, while Bezos’ net worth is approximately $235 billion. Their wealth disparity stems from Musk’s leadership roles in SpaceX and Tesla, as well as his minority stake in AI startup xAI, versus Bezos’ majority stake in Amazon.
Musk and Bezos have been trading barbs for years, but a recent dinner at Mar-a-Lago marked a turning point in their relationship. The two billionaires will reportedly sit together at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.
Interestingly, Bezos is not the first billionaire to earn Musk’s “best friend” moniker, with Trump having received similar accolades from Musk earlier this year.
