Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken to social media platform X to strongly deny a report that claimed the company was actively seeking to replace him as CEO. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that the eight-person Tesla board had contacted multiple executive search firms to initiate the hunt for a new leader.
However, Musk reacted swiftly, channeling his inner Trump in an all-caps tirade and questioning the Journal’s credibility. He quoted a statement from a Tesla spokesperson dismissing the report as “EXTREMELY BAD BREACH OF ETHICS” due to the publication of a supposedly false article without including a denial beforehand.
A Tesla spokesperson later confirmed that the story was indeed false, stating that the CEO is highly confident in his ability to lead the company. The Wall Street Journal has maintained its stance, saying it stands by its reporting and that Tesla was given an opportunity to provide a statement before publication.
This is not the first time Musk and Tesla have clashed with the Journal. The newspaper’s editorial board has previously criticized Trump during his presidency and has expressed skepticism about Tesla’s business practices.
