Elon Musk is pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence (AI) further, this time aiming to simulate a software company like Microsoft using solely AI technology. His venture, xAI, has announced plans to build a “purely AI software company called Macrohard.”
The idea is based on the fact that companies like Microsoft do not manufacture physical hardware, making it theoretically possible to replicate their entire operations with AI. However, details about Macrohard are scarce as Musk didn’t provide any information and xAI’s spokesperson refused to comment.
Grok, Musk’s AI assistant, has even hinted at hiring to fill the roles of Macrohard’s employees. Meanwhile, documents from the US Patent and Trademark Office show that a mark for “macrohard” was filed by xAI on August 1. The application lists various AI-focused goods and services, including software for producing human speech and video games using artificial intelligence.
Macrohard is just one part of Musk’s expanding portfolio of ventures, which include Tesla, xAI, X Corp, The Boring Company, SpaceX, and Neuralink. As he continues to emphasize the importance of AI and robotics in his projects, such as robotaxis and humanoid robots, Macrohard may be a significant step forward in this direction.
The creation of Macrohard also comes at a time when Musk is pushing for Tesla to invest more in xAI, highlighting the potential for collaboration between the two companies.
