Attorney and journalist Seth Abramson has sparked controversy by questioning the intellectual prowess of billionaire Elon Musk. In a series of tweets, Abramson claimed that there is “zero evidence” to support Musk’s high IQ claims, which have been touted by some as proof of his intelligence.
Abramson stated that he pegs Musk’s IQ at between 100 and 110, citing no notable achievements in his life history beyond this range. He also criticized Musk’s business ventures, such as Zip2 and SpaceX, saying they were not the result of any exceptional intellect.
Abramson pointed to several instances where Musk’s companies failed or underperformed, including Zip2, which was sold for a fraction of its worth after Musk was fired by investors. He also noted that Tesla, an early success for Musk, is now widely seen as struggling to compete with more established players in the electric vehicle market.
Abramson further questioned the notion that wealth and corporate ownership equate to intelligence. He argued that this perspective is particularly American and would be seen as “preposterous” globally.
Critics of Abramson’s comments point out that they go against common assumptions about Musk’s intellectual abilities, but the attorney has defended his position, stating that IQ scores are not a reliable measure of intelligence.
