Elon Musk’s behavior has become a source of worry among his employees at Tesla, with some suggesting that he has become disengaged from the company. According to The Washington Post, senior managers and rank-and-file workers have expressed concerns that Musk’s priorities are shifting away from Tesla’s mission to accelerate sustainable energy.
Musk’s association with President Trump is seen as a major issue, particularly in Europe where climate change policies are under threat. Employees fear that Musk’s conduct, including performing Nazi salutes, may be damaging the company’s reputation. They also point out that his support for Trump’s plans to eliminate federal EV tax credits undermines Tesla’s own mission.
Tesla’s sales have been struggling, with a 13% drop in Europe and a 37.9% decline in Norway, where electric vehicles account for over 88% of new car sales. Employees believe that Musk’s leadership is contributing to this slump, and some are even switching to Polestar due to the negative perception surrounding Tesla.
While Musk’s detractors see him as out of touch with his company’s mission, others argue that he has become beholden to Trump’s agenda. As a result, Tesla’s original green image may be irreparably damaged.
