Elon Musk’s private jets made 355 flights in 2024, according to data from jet-tracking company JetSpy. The billionaire’s growing political involvement is reflected in the frequent trips to and from Palm Beach, near Mar-a-Lago. Over half of the jets’ trips since November 5 have been to or from this area.
Musk has had a busy year, unveiling Tesla’s robotaxi, surpassing $400 billion in net worth, and becoming President-elect Donald Trump’s “first buddy.” The private jets spent about 881 hours flying worldwide.
Business Insider charted Musk’s travel using JetSpy to shed light on how the world’s wealthiest man spends his time. In total, Musk’s two Gulfstream private jets made flights between January and mid-December this year.
The data reveals Musk’s growing involvement in Trumpworld, alongside his coming advisory role to the new White House and millions of dollars in donations. The jet travel provides another window into Musk’s political activity.
Musk did not respond to a request for comment. One flight to Palm Beach International Airport marked the first trip of the year, followed by several meetings with Trump, including at Mar-a-Lago. More than half of the 31 Palm Beach-area flights occurred after Trump’s election victory.
The jets also made trips to swing states, including Pennsylvania and Georgia, as well as an airport near Washington, DC. In total, 54 of the 355 flights involved travel to and from the Palm Beach area, Washington, or swing states.
Musk’s aircraft used a “privacy ICAO address” for 17 flights this year. The planes’ top destinations included airports near SpaceX sites in California and Texas, as well as overseas locations such as France, Poland, and Indonesia.
The data also reveals that Musk’s jets emitted nearly 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to about 250 times the average person’s lifetime emissions.
