Assistant director Diego Borella, who worked on the Netflix series “Emily in Paris,” has died at the age of 47 while filming the show’s fifth season. Paramount Television Studios confirmed his death in a statement, expressing their condolences to his family and loved ones.
Borella was a locally hired third assistant director on the production team. He collapsed on August 21 during preparations for a final scene in Venice, Italy, at Hotel Danieli. Medical personnel on set attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following Borella’s death, production on season five of “Emily in Paris” was temporarily suspended. However, filming resumed on Saturday, August 23. The new season is set to premiere on December 18 and has been released for a first look.
