Emily in Paris Assistant Director Dies Suddenly on Set

A 47-year-old assistant director on the hit Netflix series “Emily in Paris” has died suddenly during filming in Venice for the show’s fifth season. Diego Borella, who worked as an assistant director, collapsed in front of colleagues while preparing to film a scene at Hotel Danieli on Thursday evening.

Medics were unable to save him and he passed away at the scene. The show’s medical staff attempted to provide assistance but was unsuccessful.

Filming for “Emily in Paris” has been temporarily suspended following Borella’s death. Paramount Television Studios, which produces the show for Netflix, released a statement saying they are “deeply saddened” by the incident and their “hearts go out” to Borella’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

The fifth season of “Emily in Paris,” starring Lily Collins as American marketing executive Emily Cooper, is set to air later this year.
