Emirates Cancels Frankfurt Flights Due to Industrial Action

Emirates Airline has cancelled several flights to and from Frankfurt Airport in Germany due to industrial action planned at the airport. The strike, organized by the Ver.di trade union, affects public service and ground handling workers at eleven major German airports.

The affected flights are EK43 (Dubai to Frankfurt), EK44 (Frankfurt to Dubai), and EK46 (Frankfurt to Dubai). However, flight EK48 from Frankfurt to Dubai will depart on March 11 with a revised schedule, while flights EK45 and EK47 from Dubai to Frankfurt will continue as usual.

Passengers affected by the cancellations will be automatically rebooked. Emirates has warned that other German airports may also experience disruptions due to the strike.

The industrial action is part of an ongoing wage dispute between the Ver.di trade union and the federal government. The strike is expected to impact over 500,000 passengers across Germany’s major airports.

Other airlines, including Lufthansa and Eurowings, have also been affected by the strikes. The wider labor movement in Germany has led to disruptions in other sectors such as hospitals, nursing homes, and kindergartens, putting pressure on the government to address workers’ demands.

Emirates had previously experienced disruptions to its Munich flights due to similar strikes. The airline implemented assistance measures for affected passengers, including rebooking options and a dedicated flight status page.
