Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu has reassured fans that she is okay after a match in Dubai was disrupted by a man with “fixated behavior”. The incident occurred during her Round of 32 match against KarolĂna Muchová, and Raducanu had previously seen the individual approaching her at her hotel.
Raducanu reported the incident to the chair umpire, who subsequently ejected the man from the facilities. An investigation is ongoing, but the alleged stalker has been banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.
The 22-year-old Brit lost the match in straight sets, but expressed gratitude for fans’ support on social media, saying she would “be okay” despite the difficult experience. Raducanu has dealt with similar issues before, including a five-year restraining order against a convicted stalker three years ago.
The WTA issued a statement condemning the man’s behavior and prioritizing player safety. The organization is working closely with Raducanu to ensure her well-being and provide necessary support. With a current ranking of No. 61, Raducanu faces challenges in maintaining her health and form after multiple surgeries last year, but remains committed to competing at the highest level.
