According to researchers at the University of Bristol, the Earth’s landmasses will merge into a new supercontinent called Pangea Ultima, leading to extreme heat, humidity, and volcanic activity that will make most of the planet uninhabitable for mammals.
The simulation suggests that the planet will experience temperatures reaching 50°C (122°F) in many areas, stifling humidity, and heightened volcanic activity. This would pose a significant threat to human survival, potentially rendering the planet uninhabitable.
The study also predicts that 92% of the Earth could become uninhabitable, leaving only polar and coastal regions suitable for life. To cope with this scenario, humans might develop subterranean cities as a refuge from rising temperatures, adopt nocturnal lifestyles similar to desert-dwelling creatures, or even consider colonizing other planets.
