Epic Games is launching a new tactical first-person shooter (FPS) game mode called “Ballistic” in Fortnite, which aims to provide a competitive and strategic experience. The 5v5 team-based game mode involves planting a device and defending against it, with teams switching sides after six rounds. Players can buy gear for the next round between matches.
The new mode is part of Epic’s effort to expand Fortnite into more varied experiences, similar to Roblox. This move allows creators to publish their own first-person mode games in early access on December 11th, providing a financial incentive for developers to create more content.
Ballistic launches during an already busy time for Fortnite, with the game’s Japanese-themed season kicking off earlier this week and the permanent version of OG mode recently launched.
