Erectile Dysfunction Not Inevitable with Age, Say Experts

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition that affects millions of men worldwide, but it’s often associated with aging. However, experts say this is not necessarily the case.

Dr Ben Davis, a GP and clinical sexologist at Central Health London, has spent 10 years helping men improve their sex lives and believes ED “is not inevitable.” He notes that half of all men will experience ED at some point in their lives, and it’s on the rise in Britain. According to Superdrug Online Doctor, demand for services related to ED increased by 68% last year, with a notable increase among younger men aged 18-29.

ED can be an indicator of overall wellbeing, as erection problems may predict heart attacks or strokes by five years, and are linked to testosterone deficiency and diabetes. However, stress, lack of work security, and the housing market’s impact on young men also play significant roles.

Fortunately, ED can be reversed with the right treatments. Dr Davis advises that men don’t necessarily need testosterone therapy, as symptoms such as low libido, morning loss of erection, and other erection difficulties are more related to hormonal imbalances than age alone.
