Eric Bieniemy, a veteran NFL assistant, has rejoined the league after a stint at UCLA, where he became the new running backs coach of the Chicago Bears. The 46-year-old coach had previously worked with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013 to 2017 as their running backs coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator. Bieniemy’s tenure as the Bruins’ assistant coach and offensive coordinator ended in December 2024, following a disappointing scoring offense finish.
Bieniemy found success earlier in his career when he was the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022, leading the team to two Super Bowl wins and improving quarterback Patrick Mahomes. After working with the Washington Commanders in 2023, Bieniemy will now focus on revitalizing the Bears’ struggling offense, which ranked last in the league in total offense last season.
