ESPN has secured a massive media deal with the National Football League (NFL) for billions of dollars, according to reports. As part of the agreement, popular entities such as RedZone will be transferred to the network.
The deal is expected to be formally announced next week and is seen as one of the biggest media deals in recent history. ESPN plans to launch its direct-to-consumer service soon, which will cost nearly $30 per month and allow consumers to cut cable subscriptions.
The NFL Network, headquartered in Inglewood, California, will also join ESPN, along with its slate of games and popular fantasy football franchises. However, it’s unclear if NFL Films is part of the deal.
The league will likely take a 10% stake in Disney-owned ESPN as part of the agreement. The current 11-year media rights deal between the NFL and other networks expires in 2033. The deal needs to be approved by government regulators but is expected to be completed before the network’s Super Bowl 61 coverage, set for February 14, 2027.
