Citrus Heights residents are invited to share their thoughts on a proposed amendment to the Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan, which will be presented by an Ethan Conrad Properties representative at the January 21 CHASEN meeting.
The proposal aims to revitalize the former Sunrise Mall area, with the company’s president, Brian Holloway, stating that it will “bring back the mall to an active and viable retail complex.” The plan is expected to preserve individual neighborhoods and promote new development, while maintaining the economic strength of retail centers.
Despite receiving criticism from local residents and news outlets, Ethan Conrad Properties stands behind its proposal. However, Citrus Heights Historical Society President Larry Fritz calls the upcoming discussion a “true test” for the city, emphasizing his hope that residents will hold out for something better.
Residents can submit comments on the proposed amendment via an online feedback form or in person until January 16. These comments will be included in the City Council’s staff report and given directly to council members. The next City Council meeting will take place on January 22 at Citrus Heights City Hall, where a general concept of the plan will be presented for discussion purposes only.
Ethan Conrad Properties is also set to present its proposal to the City Council on January 22, with the company’s president stating that it is “very interested in receiving Neighborhoods 7, 8 & 9’s thoughts and suggestions.”
